Using Stone Pebble Tiles for a Natural Looking Home

Luxury Spas and Hotels usually have one thing in common – Zen inspired interiors. These interiors are great for creating a soothing and calming atmosphere ideal for relaxing after a long week of work. Would you love to have this at home? It’s not as expensive as you might think. Simply adding naturally formed pebble tiles can go a long way in your interior project. Although these stone pebbles come in the form of tiles they can be used for not only the floor but also wall or even as accent pieces. Until recently however these tiles were not so mainstream which is why you would only seem them in high-end resorts or spas making them a highly desired and sought after interior design style.

When browsing online you will find these pebbles under many different names and countless styles. You will commonly find them as river rock or beach stones because they are naturally formed in those areas but in most cases if you ask for <a target=”_blank” href=”http://www.bmosaics.com/zen.html” title=”stone pebbles”>stone pebbles</a> people should know what you’re asking for. These stone tiles mostly come in two styles, laid out flat or stacked on-top one another which adds another level of dimension to your interior, perfect for any modern in-home spa. While you can use the flat styles in just about any format be it floor, wall, walkway, etc. Stacked pebbles are usually only used on walls as it would be uncomfortable to walk over them and perhaps even dangerous as you could trip over them. Regardless of the style they are all prepared in a similar fashion; they gather the naturally formed stone and pebbles. A machine then puts the stones through a cleaning process and they are then hand selected by a designer to ensure a good contrast of natural color and stone placement. Afterward they are then placed on a nylon mesh to form a standard 12×12 tile.

A major reason for the growing popularity in pebble tiles is their natural scratch and water resistant properties. This makes them an no-brainer for any outdoor project such as pool surroundings or walkways. Some designers are known to take the pebble tile simply as they come and lay them down as an outdoor area rug giving a great natural look.

When starting your design project if you are going to use pebble tiles keep in mind that although naturally formed, the selection of stones is immensely large. They come in several size ranges; just about every natural color and they even provide the stone with different finishes such as smooth or rough tumbled. Because these tiles come from naturally formed materials they are of course an eco friendly product which is great for the green conscious consumer.
